Looking to get a 99-01 90 Amp alternator with the wiring.
The plan is to splice the new alternator into my existing system and replace the factory 40 or whatever amp.
This is for a 2.6 91, so correct me if I mis understand what the hell I’m doing .

Rockauto has a selection of reman’d and new 90-amp alternators. Here’s their listing for a 2000 Trooper:
You’ll also have to deal with the lack of an “L” winding in the 90-amp alt. I don’t imagine there would be one of those in that one.
The “L” winding in an OE 2.6 alt is separate from the main winding and sends voltage to the main engine relay to shut it. If you don’t have that, the engine ain’t gonna run.
A while back I worked out a means of bypassing the “L” winding, by substituting a switched power source for the “L” winding, and running the grounded side of the main relay coil thru an oil pressure switch. This gives some protection to the circuit, and if the engine stops, the PS opens up, turning off the fuel pump.
Rather than re-hash that here, I’ll post a link to the thread on Planet Mordor where the info resides:
But I will post the diagram here, hope that helps…ed
Yeah, I was going to do the rework but I’m 100% I’m going to screw it up.
I found a post on the planet that said you can just change the plug and it works.
I just want to pay someone to fix this shit for me so I can enjoy the vehicle. I’ve asked on Facebook and asked around locally but no bites. Someone just take my money .
Be sure to read Tad’s comment (#20) about the “L” winding issue. It’s not just changing the plug, if you don’t create a substitute for the voltage coming from the “L” winding, the engine ain’t gonna run!
He suggests adding a relay. Which is possible. But that provides no protection for the fuel pump if the engine quits. That’s what the pressure switch is for.
You could simplify the process by putting a pipe “Tee” in the hole where the oil pressure Idiot light switch resides. Then you can run the originial ZuZu switch for the Idiot light circuit, without having to mess with it at all. And also be able to run the V6 oil pressure switch to power up the engine relay.
