Ok I guess I gotta start new one for jeep. Quick summary, bought it 109k miles jacked up on 35s with a cheap lift and a handful of problems, bunch pf places it could be improved. see image

Well, it’s been lil bit over 2 years. It’s now got rancho shocks, metalcloak control arms. Still has rough country springs. I found it was originally 6 inch lift, 4 inch springs with 2 inch spacers. took off spacers so just lifted 4 inches. on 33 patagina mts for now.

Axles are a dana 44 rear from a later year tj, geared to 4.88 and locked with TRE elocker. Front is the stock 30 with a trutrack and 4.88 gears, everything has been replaced since I got it outside of it still has stock shafts, chromoly are in my apartment waiting to be installed.

New Tom Woods driveshafts front and rear with sye for the tcase. Cheaper set of rock sliders welded to frame, new rear bumper, soft top, no more stupid angry grill. Also worked with some off the shelf brackets and a drill to make my own seat brackets and bolt in a new seat, so I can actually see stop lights (I’m 6’4)

Engine is stock 4 banger, slow as hell, ax5 tranny. Steering box and all steering components have been replaced. The radiator, thermostat, and all cooling pieces have been replaced. The exhaust is completely new (outside of manifold which does leak and has broken bolts from the guy before me), essentially a stock replacement.

My to do list!

  1. Better front bumper. One I want will probably go on sale black friday son I’m waiting.
  2. Install chromoly shafts
  3. Lower the lift to probably 2.5-3 inches total, get 35’s back on it now that it’s ready for em, and cut the hell outa my fenders so they don’t rub
  4. This is the big one, plop a sbc in it. Realistically probably be an LS, th350, and dana 300 combo. But i’d be willing to do a vortec 5.7, as long as it’s fuel injection. Regardless I’m saving up for it, my preliminary estimates put that at about $8k which means it will actually cost closer to $10k at the time of install and $12k once I’ve worked out the kinks.

I don’t remember if I posted what happened to that after I sold it. It’s an interesting story

So the amigo went to this dude who lived in Vegas. Flew up to Portland, had someone drive him down to me in Corvallis, bought it, drove home to Vegas. Didn’t hear nothing for almost a year. Then my old insurance company called and said I got in a hit and run in Vegas​:laughing:

Apparently dude never got it out of my name and never put insurance on it. I didn’t end up responsible for any of it thankfully. But I did have to call Vegas pd and say this DEFINITELY wasn’t me​:laughing:

Yea not cheap. Speaking of non Isuzu vehicle, my pos ranger’s alternator died today so I spent my breaks at work putting my spare in. Fun times. I need a better toolkit for this though, all I have is 5 wrenches and a set of vice grips

I will post some pics of the Ranger later, I don’t think I kept it updated on my old thread. It’s… interesting

Honestly I don’t…I mostly work all the time! ha!

I have a lttle KLX250 and I ride out to Harlan, either over the peak or by Woodscreek/Shotpouch to get my kicks. Id like to find time and make my trooper reliable and worthy of getting offroad. I’ve gone fishing and mushroom hunting with it, but not out looking for a challenge…
